BUILD UP OTHERS

As believers, we are called to build each other up, encourage each other, and to pray for each other. Those who are strong in their faith must seek to build up those who are weak. We are linked together, for the strong and the weak grow alike. We need each other and we are compelled to help each other. We cannot look down our noses at those who are struggling in their faith. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we must help them like we have been helped. Not one of us has arrived in our faith by ourselves. Someone has encouraged us and likewise we are to encourage others. Philippians 2:3 is our scriptural reference today.

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.”

In this moving passage, Paul speaks clearly about having the attitude of Christ. He speaks of the need to love and encourage one another with one purpose. He told the people whom he loved not to be selfish, but to remain humble. They were not to think of themselves as better than anyone else did. They were not to look out for their own interests, but be concerned about the interests of others. Throughout this chapter, Paul speaks of having the mind of Christ. When you get a chance read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, you have the mind of Christ and are able to build others up for the glory of God. Not so you can be seen, or get recognition, but to give God all the glory.
