We are not our own! We have been bought with a price. Jesus Christ paid the price of our redemption in full. Christ Himself has redeemed us from the hands of sin.  He paid the ransom for our salvation; consequently, our entire being ought to give God glory.  Sin no longer reigns and rules over us, for we have been set free by the hand of God. Paul, in his writings in I Corinthians 6:20 recorded these words:

“for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”

Paul makes it clear that our lives are not our own. In fact, at one point he raises the question, “Did you know?”  Paul wants to share this marvelous truth to the people of God.  He wants them to present their bodies as living sacrifices to the one who has paid the price for their new life. This new life requires separation from sin and living in the will of God. It requires complete sacrifice and self-denial. Paul argues throughout this chapter about the ultimate responsibilities we have as a result of being set free by God, I pray that we never forget the supreme price paid for our salvation. The songwriter wrote “Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow”. We owe Him everything; no one else could pay the price but God Himself. Praise God today for our redemption.
