Hosting the early Morning Prayer line at 6:00 a.m. has truly been a moving experience. We begin each morning giving God thanks and acknowledging His goodness.  Many of our callers share their testimony about the power and might of God.  They boast about Christ and all that He has done in their lives.  Certainly, if there is anything we can boast about, it is Christ. We cannot boast about our accomplishments, our good works, education, or financial status; but Jesus and Jesus alone should be the source of our boasting. In Galatians 6:14 where we find Paul boasting about Christ, we find these words:

“As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.”

Here we find a powerful testimony where Paul boasts about the cross of Christ.  Paul had received accolades about his preaching; but he rested on the fact that it was not of himself, but rather Christ.  At one point we hear Paul say, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.”  Paul’s life was radically changed, and he was clear as to whom the glory belonged. At one point Paul had to respond to the charge he was boasting to his converts.  To this Paul said, “No, God forbid that I should boast.”  Wherever you are on your Christian journey, whatever gifts you have, or position you hold, do not boast about yourself, but of Jesus Christ. This is a good reminder, because the reality is sometimes when people give us compliments or praise us we let it go to our heads and believe it is of our own doing.  We can boast of nothing, because it all belongs to God.
