As I write this devotion, I think of Bethlehem’s mission, “To love God and serve people”. That is something that we actually do. It is not just lip service. We know that God blesses us when we serve others. It is more blessed to give than to receive. But, even on the receiving end, we receive the blessings from on high. In II Corinthians 9:8 we read:

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

Paul speaks of God’s blessings. We are called to help those in need. God blesses us for giving and provides the means for more giving. The more we give, the more He gives to you. So, just keep on giving, for He will see you through. When the Bible speaks of the righteous included is the grace of kindly giving. For the righteous give and God is able to supply their needs as they give. Paul paints this picture that as one experiences increase with material prosperity; it allows them to be generous in their giving. That is not only true with our material blessings but with our spiritual blessings, as well. Paul knows that giving expresses thanksgiving to God. All things come from God and God loves a generous giver. Be a blessing today by extending yourself to someone. Be kind and generous to someone. You will receive a blessing from on high.
