BELONGING TO CHRIST
As I write this devotion, I give thanks to the Almighty God, because I am not able to write these devotions on my own. I am so thankful that I belong to Christ! There was a time in my life that I felt that no one really cared about me. But when I accepted Christ, I discovered a sense of belonging and genuine love. As a child, I used to hear words like “Boy, you will never amount to anything” and “You will never be nothing.” But God has changed my entire life! I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I am His child! He is my Father, and because He is my Father, I have everything I need! I know who I am, who holds me, who saved me, who redeemed me, and who loves me. There are some in this world who will try to minimize the value of belonging to Christ. But there is real value in belonging to Him, and no one can take it away! Belonging to Christ is a gift that we do not deserve. He just keeps on giving it. In Roman 8:1,we find these words:
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
The writer goes on to say, in verse two, that because we believe in, and belong to Him, “the life-giving Spirit has freed [us] from the power of sin that leads to death.” We have been set free by the hand of God. I conclude this devotion by simply saying “I’ve got SWAG!” That stands for “Someone Who Adores God!” SWAG! I belong to Him!
