It is one thing to know about the Lord, but something altogether different when someone believes in the Lord. I would argue strongly that it is possible to know, yet not believe. This matter of belief is crucial and critical to our relationship with Jesus Christ. As one believes, so he is. So, for the believer, it is not “I think so, I guess so.” Rather, it is “I know that Jesus saves. I know that He is a way-maker. I know we can put our trust and faith in Him.” We can say with all honesty that there was a time when we heard about Him. Now, we have reached a point where we know Him for ourselves, because He saved and redeemed us and turned our lives around. There is no greater value in life than to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Our scripture reference for today is found in Philippians 3:3.

“For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort.”

Here in this deep and moving passage of scripture, Paul begins by telling his fellow laborers in the Lord to rejoice in the Lord. He is certain that the Lord in who he has put his confidence and trust in, is able to keep him. He is not worried about his life, for his life is in God’s hands. He indicates that those who know Him rely on Him for what He has done. They put their confidence in Him. Paul’s belief in the Lord is strong and nothing can deter him from trusting God. He does not rely on his own effort, but he relies on the power of the Spirit of God. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, it will speak to your heart and you will have a frame of reference. You will know what God has done and will do. Your belief in the Lord is strong and nothing will deter you from trusting God for the rest of your life.
