Praying before we enter into temptation is critical to our walk with the Lord. We need to pray earnestly before temptation overcomes us. We cannot wait until after we are faced with temptation; but pray that the Lord will give us strength prior to being tempted. A beautiful song says, “Yield not into temptation for yielding is sin”. It does not mean we will not be tempted, but we must not yield to temptation so we should pray for strength to be able to stand strong in the Lord. There are many kinds of temptation and we are all tempted. If people say that they have never been tempted, they are in either in denial or not telling the truth. Satan has his way to entice us and make wrong look right.  Temptations are coming and we need to be fortified.  Luke 22:40 is our scriptural reference:

“There He told them, ‘Pray that you will not give in to temptation.’”

Luke writes of Jesus speaking to His disciples saying, “Pray that you enter not into temptation.” The Master has gone to the Mount of Olives, which was His custom. He prayed in great agony. Jesus prays, “Father, if Thou art willing, please remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will but Thy will be done.” He prayed for strength for God’s will to be done. He will soon face betrayal and arrest. Jesus was fortified for the journey ahead, for He was prayed up. Prayerfully, today, you are prayed up so that when temptation comes, you will be able to stand without wavering as you trust and depend on God. I pray that you remain strong and not moved when temptation comes your way, for you have already prayed for the strength you need to endure.
