Believers are called upon to bear fruit. We are called fruit bearers and our lives must express the fruit of God’s love. Jesus is the True Vine. Without Him, we can do nothing. That is to say, we cannot bear fruit unless we are connected to the Vine. There ought to be evidence of our fruit bearing with love, kindness, longsuffering, and meekness. Countless people try to bear fruit without being connected to the True Vine. Bearing fruit is essential—not optional. John 15:5 is our scriptural reference today.
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”
In this passage, we see that Jesus is the Vinedresser. He removes unfruitful branches and prunes them. The Master says that without Him, you can do nothing. The Vinedresser gives His whole life to the vines, feeding them, and blessing them. As we bear fruit, we give glory and honor to God. In this chapter, he speaks of how we ought to love the Father. When we bear fruit, God gets the glory. Prayerfully, you are bearing the Fruit of the Spirit and God is getting the glory out of your life.
