This year our overall effort in the body of Christ is to win a soul for Christ. It has been proven that in spite of all our technology and media, the best way to win a soul for Christ is by word of mouth. We are bearing fruit when we open our hearts and minds to invite others to join the family of God. The Great Commission calls us to reach out and extend the invitation to our brothers and sisters. Our scriptural reference is John 15:5 and reads in this manner:
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.”
In this moving passage of scripture, the writer makes clear that our Father is the Vinedresser. As a result of our being the branches, we have the power to produce fruit. Then when you read, he goes on to say that, He removes the unfaithful branches and prunes them because the branch by itself cannot bear fruit of itself. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. This matter of bearing fruit is not just for the pulpit or for those who proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, but for every believer. Our lives are to bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, and long-suffering. By this, God will get the glory and others will know that we have been with Him and He has been with us. It is my fervent prayer, that you are bearing fruit. It is tragic that one can be in the house of God for years and never have the joy of seeing another come to Christ because of our witness and fruit. Let us make this year one in which all of us bear fruit in our places of worship, homes and our communities.
