BE STILL BEFORE GOD
There are times when we come before God that we need to be still to allow God time to speak to us. Sometimes we feel that silence has no place in worship, but we need to remember that God knows our hearts and minds. In order to find ourselves in His presence, we need to rid ourselves of any distractions. Finding quiet time with God renews our strength. When we talk to God, it is more than social listening. We need to pray from the heart then listen for His response. Often times we find ourselves unable to be still long enough to hear what He has to say. We have to remember that sometimes God speaks in a small quiet voice; we may miss it because were so busy talking to Him. We have to settle our nerves, and quite our fears to know that He is present. There is joy that comes from just listening to God.
In Psalm number 62:5, we find these words:
“Let all that I am wait quietly before God.”
The psalmist waits quietly before God recognizing God and God alone for salvation. He is surrounded by enemies plotting to destroy him, but he puts his hope and trust in the Lord. He has a heart to listen to God; he needs God to speak to him to remind him of His power. He is quietly and patiently waiting for God knowing his victories are in the hands of God. So today, be still and know that He is God. Turn off the TV and your phone and just spend a few moments in quietness with God.
