BE SLOW TO GET ANGRY
Anger is something that we all need to work at controlling. I would argue strongly that there are countless people who cannot control their anger. We see evidence of this in so many ways in our world today. We see anger in incidents of road rage, racism, domestic violence, divorces, the list goes on and on. The damage done to the lives of those impacted by someone else’s anger is overwhelming. Controlling our anger is very important. In James 1:19, we find these words:
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
The writer indicates that one must be quick to listen, but slow to speak or get angry. Anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. God delights Himself in those who humbly accept the Word of God. We must listen to the word, apply it to our lives, and control our tongues. Prayerfully today we are all asking God for the strength to be slow to get angry.
