I am always trying to hear from God. I hear much noise around me and honestly, sometimes the noise overwhelms me. I need to be still and hear from God. I need to be open so that when He speaks, I can respond. I have said previously that sometimes pastors, preachers and people use the phrase, “God told me …” Unfortunately, sometimes it is used for the wrong purpose. However, I do believe that God speaks, and we must be open to hear and respond to Him. We cannot do that with a closed mind or with perceived ideas. We must have willing, eager, and open hearts and minds. Deuteronomy 27:10 is our text today.

“So you must obey the Lord your God by keeping all these commands and decrees that I am giving you today.”

In this moving passage, we find a solemn warning from Moses, instructing the people to keep the divine ordinances, obey the Law, carry out God’s commandments, and to be open to what God is calling them to do. Throughout this chapter, Moses gives them instructions to honor the Lord so that the Lord will bless them. They needed to be open to hear the Word of the Lord. For them to receive their blessing they had a responsibility to obey the voice of the Lord. We don’t hear much about the word “obey” anymore. We’d rather do our own thing. Some things we tune out of our mind when God speaks, but, if we are to be blessed by God, we need to follow His will and way. We cannot do things our way, but we must be open to receive His Word and to carry out His Word. There is a blessing in store for those who hear and do what God has called them to do. Prayerfully, you are one of those believers who hear and do the will of God.
