As believers, we need always to be open to change in our lives. No matter how much progress we have made in our walk with God, there is still a great deal more for us to gain. We need the Lord to increase our faith, and strength. We need some changes in our lives that would put us on the right path. We cannot be satisfied or comfortable with the progress we have made. Always, always be open to God doing a new thing in our lives. II Peter 1:5, today’s devotion, speaks clearly of being open to change.

“In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,”

In this deep and moving passage, Peter speaks to God’s people about adding to their faith. Peter was a very practical man. He might be called an activist, always challenging people to grow, develop and to be open to change. He fully knew that to be mature, one must develop their faith. Peter knew that faith produced knowledge and self-control, which was needed in the lives of God’s people. He knew that some positive changes needed to take place in their lives if they were to grow. He did not want them to be fearful of change. His heart’s desire was for them to be open to change, to grow and to be more productive in the work of the Kingdom. Prayerfully, you will take some time to self-evaluate. Be open to the changes that you need in your life. Change is good. God is changing us every day. Thank God, we are not what we used to be. He is doing a new thing in our lives.
