Something about reading God’s Word daily, gives us the strength we need for this life’s journey through trials and troubles. Whether you are a believer or non-believer, trials and troubles will come. That is certain! However, the believer has the assurance that we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us. We are to be of good cheer because we are not alone. We can face all obstacles, for we know that our Lord has been triumphant. John 16:33, a familiar passage, reminds us of this.

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Nothing is hidden in this text, including the cost of the dangers of discipleship. It is clear that we will have tribulations. However, it does not stop there. We are to be of good cheer for Christ has overcome the world. That is a promise. We can rely on Christ to give us the faith and strength to overcome. We are to be of good cheer, to be courageous, and to be steadfast. When you get a chance read and reread this portion of scripture so that when you face the troubles that will surely come, you will not panic or throw in the towel. You will be of good cheer knowing that the Lord is on your side.
