BE OF GOOD CHEER
Life is filled with trials and troubles. There is no escaping. If you have not had your share of trials and troubles, just keep on living. They will come. They come in different ways: sickness, death, and disappointments. But, no matter what troubles come, we can be of good cheer for God has empowered us to overcome every trouble in life. Today’s devotion speaks of that power and tells us to be of good cheer. Our scripture reference is John 16:33.
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Jesus, the Master Teacher, tells His disciples that their sadness will turn into joy. He is about to leave them and wants them to know that they will not be alone. The Father is with them. Jesus says that they might have peace in the midst of their storm, to be of good cheer, and not become overwhelmed by this world’s troubles. Prayerfully, you have discovered God’s peace regardless of the troubles that come your way. I pray that you can truly be of good cheer knowing that the Father is with you and that you have power through Him to remain strong. You can sing, “Why should I be discouraged?” because you know His eye is on the sparrow, and you know He watches you.
