BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY

It is so important that as God’s people, we use our words wisely. We cannot say everything that comes to our minds, but we must be slow to speak and quick to listen. Many of us have said some ungodly words; once we say them, we can’t take them back.  Relationships have been destroyed because of some cruel words. Families have been split apart because of words that were full of anger and resentment. Our words must always be in line with our life in Christ. In Ephesians 4:24, we find these words:

“Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.”

The writer speaks clearly about living a life that is pleasing unto God.  Ephesians 4:31 tells us to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. We are to put on a new way of living, which is righteous and holy, instead of using words that cause pain. Ephesians 4:32 says we should “Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, and forgiving one another just as God, through Christ, has forgiven us.” When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, the words we use give glory to God and edify those who receive them.
