BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU LISTEN TO
The one thing I pray for is that these devotions are meaningful to the reader’s life. I seek to write these devotions using a Biblical foundation for a practical way to apply the Word of God to our daily living. I have said on many occasions that I hope they do not sound self-righteous or judgmental while speaking to your hearts and minds. It is important that we keep our minds open and that our hearts are not polluted with ungodly things. I must admit that some songs we hear in our society today are crude, vulgar and disrespectful, particularly to our women. We need to be mindful of what our children listen to and watch on their phones and computers. In other words, we need to be careful what we listen to. Today’s devotion speaks of how Jesus spoke to the man with an unclean spirit found in Mark 5:8:
“For Jesus had said to him, ‘Come out of this man, you impure spirit!’”
This familiar story shows that Jesus knew that this man needed healing. Christ asks him his name and he replied, “Legion,” which meant he had countless demons within him. Obviously, this man was listening to the many voices within him, which caused him pain. He was not made clean until he heard Jesus’ voice. I pray that you can discern the voice of God and not listen to the voice of demons. Once again, be careful whom you listen to.
