Asking For Mountains

When I read this portion of scripture in today’s devotion, I started to shout. In Joshua 14:12, we find these words:

“So give me the hill country that the LORD promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the LORD is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the LORD said.

There are some mountains in my life that I have asked God to give to me. To ask for a mountain requires great faith and confidence in the promises that the Lord has made. In the book of Joshua, we see the moving story of 85-year-old Caleb, who is still full of vigor and able to do what the Lord had called him to do. The constant assurance of God’s presence gave him a perspective of God’s sovereign power and faithfulness in keeping His promise. May your faith and trust in God increase as the Lord puts gifts and challenges in your life so that with Him, you will be a blessing to others.
