ASK GOD TO FORGIVE YOU
Every believer needs to ask God continually for forgiveness. We need His forgiveness every day. I hear the words of Apostle Paul “I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.” How true those words are! For at your best, we always fall short. Thanks be unto God that He is a forgiving God. I have said on many occasions that all our sins are not just in the past. We have fresh sins; in fact, as you read this devotion today, take the time to ask God to forgive you. The scripture reference is James 5:16 and reads in this manner:
“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”
James writes of the power of prayer in this chapter. He makes it clear that we should pray at all times. In fact, he says that if you are sick, you should call for the church elders to pray over you and anoint you in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer in faith will heal the sick and the Lord will make you well. If you have committed sin, you will be forgiven. Our sins are to be confessed to the Lord, and to one another. When we sin against our brother and sister, we should ask for forgiveness. We cannot be hardhearted and call ourselves children of God. The Lord has given us opportunity to confess our sins, shortcomings, and faults. Take advantage of it. Do not let another day go by and you not confess your sins.
