God has created in us the ability to do what is right and to do what is wrong. He has given us free choice. We can choose to please Him, or we can choose to ignore Him. Subsequently, we should always do what pleases the Lord. We cannot plead ignorance for we know what pleases Him. He has stated in His Word that we are to love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind and that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. The question is whether we are willing to do this. Honor the Lord every day; not just by your words, but by your deeds. Pray for those who spitefully use you. The things that the Lord commands are great, and He has given us the power to accomplish them. Our devotion today is John 8:29.

“And the One who sent me is with me—He has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases Him.”

Jesus, the Master Teacher, clearly states that He is doing His Father’s will. Jesus will always do what pleases God and He wants His disciples, whom He loved, to do things that please the Father, also. He is deeply committed to share the blessing of honoring God by serving Him and living in a way that pleases the Father. He indicates, “You are truly my disciples if you obey me.” He wants them to continue in His Word knowing that the truth will set them free. He does not want them to be servants to sin. He wants them to be emancipated and to live according to the Lord’s will. He wants them to have the complete freedom that only comes with full surrender to Christ. Today, if you have not done so already, make a commitment to please the Lord so that your life might be enriched, and God will get the glory.
