Today marks the beginning of the Lenten Season. On this day, we observe Ash Wednesday. This day marks the start of a forty-day period of fasting and praying. We pray that during this season we might turn to God and seek a deeper walk with Him. We pray that it might be a time of sacrifice and self-inventory, drawing closer to God and accepting His blessings. I would argue strongly that God stands ready to bless us. Unfortunately, far too many people will not accept His blessings. He stands ready to grant to us His mercy, His love, and His compassion. As we draw near to Him during this season, I pray that your relationship will grow deeper, turning toward Him and not away from Him. Plan to spend quiet time with God during this season so that your life is renewed and strengthened. The scripture reference Isaiah 1:19 reads in this manner.

“If you will only obey Me, you will have plenty to eat.”

In this moving scripture, we see the blessings that God wants to extend to His people. He lets them know through the Prophet that if they will just accept and obey Him, blessings will flow from on high. In the previous verse he writes, “‘Come now, let’s settle this,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.’” The blessings are there! All we need to do is to accept them. Though our sins may be many, He will make them as white as snow. We do not have to live in sin and shame. Today, won’t you accept the Lord’s great invitation? Give your life to Him and see the blessings He has for you. Do not put it off. Today is the day of salvation. On this Ash Wednesday, make a commitment and give your life to Christ. He will make you brand new
