ARE YOU HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION?
A couple of days ago, I wrote a devotion entitled Ask God For Directions. Today, I am following up by asking are you headed in God’s direction. When He provides directions, we must follow them. We cannot choose to go in another direction. It is terrible to get lost, not know where you are, and unable to return to your former place. Sometimes we think we are going in the right direction to discover that we are not going the right way. I find that to be true, for I am not the best person with directions and when lost, it is a bad feeling. I also know the horrible feeling when I do not follow the Lord’s direction. Every now and again, I check myself to insure I am going the right way. John 16:9 is our text today.
“The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.”
In this text, Jesus, the Master Teacher speaks of those who follow the way of sin are going in the wrong direction. They do not believe in Him. Caught up in their sinful ways, they are blinded to the truth. Jesus is about to go away and will leave them the Comforter. When He comes, He will reprove the world of sin in righteousness. When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide the people in all truth. The Spirit will give them direction, power, and remove the scales from their eyes so that they see more clearly. The truth shall set them free. At times, we cannot go in the right direction because of our sinful ways. But, thanks be unto God for the Spirit of Truth that will allow us to see more clearly. We do not have to live in darkness but can follow the light and live a life that is pleasing unto Him.
