An Unchangeable God

March brings changeable weather: wind, rain, storms, and every now and then, a glimpse of Spring. The weather may change, the seasons may change and life’s experiences may change; but we serve an unchangeable God. He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore (Hebrews 13:8). We can count on Him no matter what life brings our way. Think about how we have changed, yet God loves us with an unchanging love. There is no one like God. In Malachi 3:6, we find these words:

“’I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.’”

The prophet indicates that the Lord spared the people of Israel even though they had wandered away. The prophet says, in verse 8 to speak about how the people robbed God, neither giving Him their tithes and offerings, nor had they honored Him. They had disregarded the statues, failed to support the temple, and had reneged on their commitment. Even with that, the prophet assured them that if they repented, honored God with their tithes, and worshiped Him, He would “open the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessing that there would not be room enough for them to receive” (verse 10). The same is true for us today. God does not change. May we all be strengthened today with the knowledge that even if we rob God of our tithes and worship, He does not change. His love for us is unconditional.
