AN ENCOURAGING WORD
I thank God Almighty for encouragers. My life is richly blessed as every day I begin with the Church Without Walls. I cannot put into words my appreciation for the countless prayers and words of encouragement that are offered on my behalf. They have lifted my soul. I believe with all my heart that all of us need to be encouraged with an encouraging word from others. We can also encourage ourselves in the Lord. In no way does that mean we are becoming boastful, proud, or arrogant. It simply means that our lives are enhanced when others pray for us and encourage us to continue to honor the Lord with our service to Him. In the wisdom book of Proverbs, chapter 12, verse 25, we find these encouraging words.
“Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.”
The writer makes clear how encouragement brings strength to God’s people. The writer says encouraging words that cheer, lift and bless a person. In this chapter, the author writes about the things we should and should not do. He indicates that one should work hard and be faithful. The writer warns against those who are deceitful and wicked and he offers advice to worriers to be mindful of the weight it carries. The writer offers words of enlightenment and encouragement that will pick you up. Powerful words flow from the heart of the writer. Prayerfully, today, we are gleaning how we can encourage one another. So, I end this devotion with these words. Be an encourager. Offer an encouraging word to someone so that God might get the glory and that all individuals might be lifted up.
