AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
I have a plaque in my office that I read each day. It is situated in a place I cannot overlook. When I walk into my office, my eyes glance upon this plaque, “Start each day with a grateful heart.” That is another way of saying have an attitude of gratitude. Be thankful for all the Lord has done, is doing and will do. I have said before that ingratitude is a sin. As much as God has done for us, we ought always to have a heart of gratitude, and appreciation for what He has done. Today’s scripture is found in Deuteronomy 10:20.
“You must fear the Lord your God and worship him and cling to him. Your oaths must be in his name alone.”
The writer speaks of the importance of a grateful attitude. When he writes of fear, he is speaking of reverence. We ought to serve and honor Him. We ought to appreciate all that He has done. Throughout this chapter, he writes of the blessings people have received from their God, Yahweh. Israel is to love the Lord with their heart, soul, and mind and to remember to praise Him. The great, mighty, and powerful God has sustained them. All other powers dwindle compared to His. He alone is worthy of worship and devotion and their hearts should always be full of gratitude. May our hearts be full of gratitude today and every day. May we always have an attitude of gratefulness to our God.
