“ALL IN”
It is important for us as believers to love one another. We say that we are Christians, but that means that we must be “Christlike.” To be like Christ means to love every- body. We must be “all in” — there can be no half-stepping, with one foot in and one foot out. We must be completely in love with the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind. We must love our neighbors as ourselves, and love our enemies, too! When we do, we will know that we are “all in.” Some believers have not made a full commitment to be “all in” because there may be some things that they are not willing to do. Loving your enemies can be hard. But we all must remember; it is a mandate that we love even those who do not love us. When we do, we can say that we are “all in!” In 1 John 3:16,we find these words:
We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us.
So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
The writer is clear that the Lord’s love for us is total commitment. Jesus gave His life for us, consequently we have been called to be “all in.” The writer is also clear that we know what real love is because we have the love of Christ, therefore we must love one another. This is His commandment, that we must believe in the name of His son Jesus Christ and love one another. Read this entire chapter, then ask yourself whether you are “all in.” Prayerfully, each of us will be able to say, “Yes I am.”
