We thank God for faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Yes, we know that if we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can move mountains. Faith requires patience, endurance and we must add to our faith that we might have tenacity to trust God completely. There are challenges in life that require a tremendous amount of faith. Faith produces knowledge and self-control. There is a portion of scripture in II Peter 1:5 that serves as our scriptural lesson for this devotion and reads:

“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;”

A very practical Peter speaks of the importance of having faith. He recognizes that faith produces knowledge and self-control.  Peter writes from personal experience. He knew that faith was an action word, which requires conviction, and is an essential part of our Christian character. Faith is fundamental to our relationship to God. Faith will test our endurance and character, determining what we are made of. Life’s experiences tests our faith and often reveals our integrity. When our faith remains strong, we will come forth as pure gold. Today, add to your faith the virtues of patience and endurance.
