Abundant Life
Thanks be unto God, that the Lord not only gives us life, but we have an abundant life through Jesus Christ. The Lord indicates in John 10:9 that He is a Door, and anyone who comes in shall be saved. Jesus Christ, Himself, assures us of eternal life. In John 10:10, we find these words:
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
As you read this deep and profound verse, you see that a thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. This is a reference to the authorities that just excommunicated one of God’s people. Jesus contradicts the thinking of those in higher authority by offering an abundance of life. He is the Great Shepherd who cares for His sheep. He will guide, feed and care for those who follow Him and offer themselves to Him. In the next verse you see Him calling Himself the Good Shepherd. In these three verses, we see Christ referenced as the Door, Abundant Life and the Good Shepherd. Through Christ’s love, our lives are overflowing with His grace and mercy. He blesses us abundantly. Prayerfully, we have all gone through The Door, are being led by the Good Shepherd, and are experiencing AbundantLife.
