ABIDE IN HIM
As we think of this word, “abide,” it draws us to cling to the Lord, to draw close to Him, and allow Him to dwell in our hearts. Recognize that we are only the branches on His vine. The branches have no power when they are separated from the vine. In the same way, we have no power when we are not abiding in Him. When we abide in Him, we have the power to live a life, full and complete. We will be able to draw upon His power and strength.
The Scripture reference for this devotion comes from 1 John 2:24:
“So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.”
The writer speaks clearly about the need to remain faithful to carry out the things of God and to have fellowship with Him. He also writes that from this fellowship, we will enjoy the eternal life He has promised us. He writes this letter so that the people will continue to abide in the Lord. It is my fervent prayer today that you will not waiver in your faith. Continue to honor God and remain faithful to Him so that you can say, “I abide in Him and I know He abides in me.”
