I remember a service when one of our deacons shared his testimony prior to leading our intercessory prayer.  As part of his testimony, he led the congregation in the song “Falling in Love with Jesus”.  That song has always lifted my spirit; because of all of the relationships I have been blessed to have, the best relationship is the one I’ve had with God.  This in no way minimizes the other relationships that I cherish, but the one with God is so deep and profound it will last for eternity.  I am also aware that I have those other relationships with family and friends, because of the wonderful relationship I have with God.  God is the giver of every good and perfect gift, so I love the giver more than the gift.  Nothing can compare to the relationship one has with God.  There is a portion of scripture in Romans 5:11 that speaks about this relationship with God.  The verse reads in the following manner:

“So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

These words speak to our entire being, for here Paul expresses the thoughts and joys of his heart.  He echoes from his inner soul the joy of the redeemed.  Paul spoke of the rich fellowship with God that opens the door to reconciliation.  He was ecstatic over the unbelievable joy that came into his life when he was transformed by the renewing of the Spirit. Paul rejoiced in the new knowledge of God through Jesus Christ, which gave him the assurance of salvation.  It is from this joy he was able to speak glowingly about this relationship with God.  It transcended everything else that had occurred in his life. It is my prayer today that you have an intimate relationship with God, one that you have come to appreciate and love.
