A SACRIFICE OF PRAISE
Every Monday on the Church Without Walls, we gather to give God praise. That is how we begin the day and the week by offering to God our deep and genuine praise. Please don’t get me wrong for we praise God every day. On Monday in particular, we spend our time in prayer and in praise to God. It is such a blessing to awaken and offer to God a sacrifice of praise. It is a sacrifice to awaken around 5:45 am, and call in. I believe that one needs discipline to set time aside to pray and to praise God. We do not praise God because of convenience, but out of necessitates for the sacrifices He has made on our behalf. Whatever we do to honor God ought to be a sacrifice. Our tithes, offerings, worship, and praise should all be offered from a deep and genuine heart of gratitude. Hebrews 13:15 is our scriptural text today
“Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.”
In this passage, the writer writes of the need to offer Jesus Christ sacrifice of praise. Throughout this chapter, the writer indicates the need to honor God. Not to become obsessed with money, but live a life pleasing unto God. He indicates that under the old Law, animals were sacrificed for sin into the tabernacle. However, Jesus suffered and died, and the shedding of His blood was a sacrifice that was holy and pure. He writes not to forget to do good and share with those in need. This chapter speaks about the sacrifices we are called to make that honor God. We see the great sacrifice God made through His Son those sinners like you and I are granted eternal life. What a great sacrifice He made on our behalf. Now, we are called to make sacrifices in His name through praise, prayer, sharing and loving.
