The Lord has prayed that we might be one. That is so important! In reality, there is much division even in the body of Christ. We need one another and the blood of Jesus Christ connects us. There should be no separation between those of different ethnicities or race. We are still brothers and sisters in Christ. That is also true along economic and social lines. We see much division in the body of Christ: those who are quiet in their praise, and others who are more expressive with their voices. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we understood how the Lord prays that we might be one? We have seen on more than one occasion that we all have value with God and there are no VIP’s. If there was ever a time to be one; it is now. Our country needs to be one. Let us look at today’s Word in John 17:21.

“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent Me.”

In this deep passage, the Master prays for unity. He prays for a common bond between His people. He is one with the Father and He desires that we also be one with Him. Jesus has consecrated Himself and prayed for the church of the future. He prays for unity in God so that they may have the fellowship that the Son has with the Father. When you get a chance, read this chapter to learn about the oneness we share. We cannot say that we love God whom we have not seen, and not love those we see every day. God has created us that we might have fellowship with one another, and we must be one.
