A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
It is so important that we have a personal relationship with God. It is one thing to know about Him from someone else, but it is entirely different to know Him for yourself. Our relationship with God guides and leads us. Without this personal relationship, we will fall into the hands of the devil. The flesh is weak. We cannot handle the flesh without an intimate relationship with the One stronger than any satanic forces. That intimate relationship with Him gives us the power and strength we need to defeat the devil and to handle all our trials and troubles. The scripture reference for this devotion is Galatians 5:16.
“So, I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”
Paul speaks of the need to develop a one-on-one relationship with God. Paul knows that the sinful nature that we have is opposite of the Spirit of God. Two forces are fighting each other, but God’s power is stronger than the force of evil. Paul knows that when the Spirit directs you, you can live a victorious life in Christ that is fulfilling and gives you strength throughout all life’s battles. Prayerfully, you have a personal relationship with Almighty God, and you value that relationship. You communicate with God on a daily basis and draw upon His strength and power, living by His Spirit no longer bound by the flesh. Each day I pray that you draw closer to God. May your relationship with Him dwell in your heart richly.
