Over the last few days that I have been writing these devotions, I had to listen to God to write about being “Made Brand-New” and ‘Are You Up for the Test.” Today, in keeping with I want to share about “A New Spirit,” I am listening to God again as He gives me the words for this devotion. Once He makes us “brand-new,” He gets us “ready for the test”, because we have a “new spirit” within us. The Spirit of God gives us the power to do all things, and do all things well. The Spirit of God allows us to love, care, share, and to forgive. The Spirit of God harbors over us, and we are able to do great and glorious things in His name. He will take away bitterness, anger, and resentment and give us a new lease on life. In Ezekiel 11:19, we find these words:

And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart.

Ezekiel wrote a message to the leaders of Israel that came to him from the Lord. He told them that the Lord would execute judgment on them for what they had done (killing the people and leaving them murdered in the streets). But as for the people of Israel, who had been scattered to far places, the Lord was going to bring them back and give them a land, once again. They will be God’s people and they will praise God for the new spirit will be granted unto them. God blesses those who open their hearts to Him. Open your heart and receive a new spirit!
