A New Heart
I believe that we all need to have a New Heart – one that only God can give. Every day in the media, we see how someone whose cold heart has caused pain and sometimes even death to others. Families are often torn apart because a family member has a cold heart. Lives are destroyed each day because of someone’s poisonous heart. As we read today’s scripture lesson, join me in praying that God will touch the hearts of those who care little about the gift of life. In Ezekiel 36:26, we find these words:
“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.”
Ezekiel speaks to the people about their relationship with God. They had never learned to be faithful to God. Nevertheless, instead of punishment, God forgave them and granted them a new future. In verses 27 and 28, he says “And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. And you will live in Israel… You will be my people, and I will be your God.” Thank God today that He loves us so much that He grants us a new way of living, loving and serving. He gives us a new heart!
