A Heart That Loves God
I pray today that as you read this devotion, you will have a heart that loves God. Not a cold heart, but a heart that truly loves God with your whole soul and mind. We must love God’s people with the heart of God. We cannot love God, whom we have not seen, and not love those who we see every day (1 John 4:20). As we are transformed and given the heart of God, it allows us to love unconditionally. Not only will our hearts reveal the tender and loving nature of God, but our hearts will allow us to offer sacrifices and praises unto Him. The giving of our tithes, offerings and sacrifices are borne out of our deep and abiding love for God. In Hosea 6:6, we find these words:
“I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me
more than I want burnt offerings.”
God deserves more than offerings. Hosea demanded pure love from God’s people. He regarded sacrifices as having no value if they are an act of worship without true love. Whatever we do, love should be at the heart of it. When we put the love of God first, we will not have any misgivings about our giving or our service. God wants our heart first before we offer Him our tithes, service or ministry. He wants our complete love. Today, we should offer God our hearts. All that we do should come out of a loving heart for God.
