A FRAME OF REFERENCE
Every believer, including me, should have a frame of reference. We need this so that when we are faced with problems and burdens, we can think of the times that God has already blessed us. A frame of reference is our support system. We know that the God we serve will come into our lives during challenging times. We can testify of His goodness, His kindness, His love and His tender mercy. When we hear others testify, we can identify with them, sharing what we have been through. I honor God by
saying, “God, Thank You for blessing me when I was sick. Thank you for keeping me when I couldn’t keep myself. Thank you for forgiving me when I messed up. Thank you for being there for me when I thought all hope was lost.” This is my testimony and my frame of reference. What about you, do you have a frame of reference? Can you tell somebody with confidence that God will make a way out of no way? In Psalm 116:6, we find these words:
The LORD protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and he saved me.
The psalmist declares a frame of reference, indicating that the Lord saved him from death. In this chapter, he testifies about the kindness of the Lord, saying how good He is, and also speaks about how God protects him. His heart is filled with gratitude and thanksgiving. I pray that each of us will give God praise for how the Lord has come to our rescue. This is our frame of reference.
