A FERVENT PRAYER

Prayer is the soul’s expression of our heart’s desire. There are times when we pray to God with a heart of thanksgiving or praise. However, there are times when we pray with a heart of desperation or sadness. In these times, it may be difficult to even find the right words to pray.  No matter the situation, our prayer should be passionate and from the heart.  In Luke 22:44, we find these words:

“He prayed more fervently, and He was in such agony of spirit that His sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.”

The Master prayed to His Father shortly before His arrest with a heart of what one can imagine was desperation. He said earlier in verse 42, “Father if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet, I want your will to be done, not mine.” The Word says He prayed with such passion that “sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.” Read this entire chapter when you get a chance. Prayerfully, whenever we are faced with life’s difficulties, we will fervently pray to God for guidance, as Jesus did.
