A Desire to Do the Lord’s Will

One of the greatest blessings I have witnessed as a pastor is to see God’s people have a desire to do His work and will. Some of us engage in the Lord’s work begrudgingly or reluctantly.  But to have a desire to offer to God the best we have, and to be grateful for the opportunity, is a blessing indeed!  It is so important to have a desire to please Him with the work that we do. In Psalm 143:10, we find these words:

“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.”

The psalmist begins this chapter by crying out to the Lord, pleading with Him for deliverance from his enemies.  He then expresses a desire to do the Lord’s will. His heart is overflowing with joy as he praises God for all that He has done.   What a wonderful blessing it is to praise God by doing His work and will.  It is my prayer today that we all have a desire to serve the Lord, and that we are fired up and ready to do all that God has called us to do. May this day be the day that we commit ourselves to say, “Yes Lord, I will do your will and your way.”
