A CRY IN THE NIGHT
There are nights in our lives when we cry out to God. The day has been full of misery and pain. Even though, we seek to rest, in the midnight hour we toss and turn. We seek the very presence of God. This is something I have said on many occasions. If you have never experienced a difficult night, and when you had to cry out to the Lord, simply keep on living. The time will come when your nights will be long and lonely, and you will need the power of God to bless you. This is nothing new. For the Word of God speaks clearly of a cry in the night. The scripture reference for this devotion is found in Isaiah 6:9.
“And he said, ‘Yes, go, and say to this people, ‘Listen carefully, but do not understand. Watch closely, but learn nothing.’’”
Here in this deep and moving passage of scripture, the prophet begins this chapter by praising God. He goes on to speak from his heart of the need to trust in the Lord always. He says that the Lord God is the Eternal Rock. His heart’s desire is to glorify the Lord. He cries out in the night for he knows full well of the power of God. Those who have no regard for the Lord have surrounded Isaiah. Therefore, he finds himself in distress and prays from his heart. When you get a chance read this entire chapter. You will easily relate to it. Despite the many evil things in this world, God will bring you joy in the morning. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning!
