A Cheerful Look
As believers, we rest on the fact that the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Even when we are going through trials and troubles, we can still have joy on the inside. That joy, deep down within, allows us to have a cheerful look. It’s so important that we have this cheerful look as opposed to looking mean and mad. Some of us believers walk around with gloom and doom on our faces; consequently, we are not able to witness to the goodness of the Lord. God is not impressed when we serve Him with faces that are not cheerful. The songwriter said it this way, “I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free. His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.” In Proverbs 15:30, we find these words:
“A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.”
This is a short verse, but it has so much meaning. It is my prayer today that our faces are filled with the glow of the Lord and His countenance is all over us. I also pray that our smiles radiate the beauty of the Lord, so that wherever we go, people are drawn to us by our cheerful presence and the positive words that flow from our mouths.
