Walk Worthy of Your Calling

Ephesians 4:1 (NLT)

As believers we are called upon to walk in a way that gives glory to God and edifies the people of God. In one sense all of us are ministers.  All of us have a calling; that calling requires us to live in a way that is honorable and pleasing unto God.  In fact, in Ephesians 4:1 we find these words:

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

Here Paul the servant of the Lord pleads with his fellow laborers to walk worthy of their calling.  Paul is committed to live a life that is pleasing unto Christ; consequently, he shares that calling with his fellow believers.  He refers to himself as a prisoner of the Lord.  His concern comes out of his passion for Christ and his love for the work he has been assigned to do.  He knows that one must be consecrated: set apart to work.  His plea comes out of a humble spirit and a genuine desire to live for Christ.  These are some powerful words that Paul writes in this chapter of Ephesians.  I believe firmly that they apply to every believer.  It is a blessing and a privilege to serve the Lord.  It is my prayer that your service to Him is truly worthy of your calling.
